Tax rebates

Service animals are welcome at the airport. Service animal relief areas can be found at the IAH Airport departures area at the following locations:

• Terminal A, inside (security post), near gate A12.
• Terminal B, inside (security post), near gate B1, opposite The Fruteria.
• Terminal C, inside (after security), opposite gate C2.
• Terminal D, inside (after security), opposite gate D6 - currently closed for renovations. The nearest animal assistance area is near exit E12.
• Terminal E, inside (after security), opposite gate E12.

There are many places to eat at IAH Airport. Dining options include eateries, cafes, and restaurants that offer a variety of food options ranging from steak, seafood, and fast food to gluten-free, vegetarian, and kid-friendly.

Lounges are available in every terminal. Here you can drink soft and alcoholic drinks, enjoy a variety of dishes from snacks to premium food, read magazines and newspapers, watch TV, and relax in comfort. Access to the lounges is allowed to passengers who use certain airlines' services for free or for an additional fee.

Carry-on luggage rules for IAH Airport departures

Allowed items for carry-on luggage

Please check the basic baggage rules before entering the Houston International Airport departures area. This will help to avoid unnecessary problems with security control before the flight.

• Liquids. It is allowed to carry liter bags of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes through the checkpoint. They are limited to 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item. This is also known as the 3-1-1 rule of liquids.

• Medication. If it is a liquid medicine, you may bring more than 3.4 oz. If it is a tablet or solid form, you can bring an unlimited amount.
• Baby Food, Breast Milk, and Baby Formula. These items are also not subject to the 3.4-ounce liquid rule and do not need to be stored in a zippered plastic bag.
• Batteries. Most consumer electronics batteries are allowed in carry-on baggage.

Restricted items for carry-on luggage

The following items are not allowed on board and must be thrown out before entering the George Bush Intercontinental Airport departures area:

• Sharp objects (stationery knives, ice axes, picks, scissors, knives (including penknives).
• It is forbidden to carry sporting goods and sports equipment (except balls, tennis rackets, fishing rods, snowshoes, and longboards). Bicycles are sometimes allowed on flights, but it depends on the airline.
• Self-defense items (such as self-defense sprays or martial arts weapons).
• Gel-type candles are prohibited (solid wax candles are allowed).
